Information We Collect
Account information
When you register to participate in a Yagya event, we collect your username, display name, and email address. If you set a profile photo through Gravatar (linked to your email), that image may appear alongside your submissions and on the community activity feed.
Chant submission data
When you log a chant count for an event, we store the count you submit, the date and time of submission, and the event it relates to. This creates a permanent history of your submissions rather than a single overwritten total, so your personal and the community’s global totals can be shown accurately.
Technical and usage data
Like most websites, our hosting and security infrastructure automatically logs standard technical data — IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, and timestamps — for security, performance, and troubleshooting purposes.
Communications
If you contact us directly (email, contact form, or comments), we retain the content of that communication along with your contact details, so we can respond and keep a record of the exchange.
What we don’t collect
We do not process payment card information on this Site.
How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage your account, and let you log in securely.
- To record and display your personal chant total and the event’s live global total.
- To show the community activity feed (name, avatar, and recent submissions) for participants of an event.
- To generate participation certificates when an event concludes.
- To communicate with you about your account, event updates, or in response to your inquiries.
- To maintain the security, integrity, and proper functioning of the Site, including detecting spam or abuse.
- To understand aggregate usage of the Site so we can improve it.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your chant data for advertising purposes.
Cookies & Tracking Technologies
The Site uses cookies required for core functionality, such as keeping you logged in and protecting form submissions from forgery (via WordPress security nonces). These are essential and cannot be disabled without affecting how the Site works.
If we use analytics tools , they may set additional cookies to help us understand how visitors use the Site in aggregate. You can control cookies through your browser settings at any time.
Sharing & Third Parties
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We may share limited information with the following categories of service providers, solely to operate the Site:
- Web hosting provider — Stores site data and processes requests to serve the Site to you.

Data Retention
We keep account information for as long as your account remains active. Chant submission history is retained indefinitely as part of the permanent community record for each event, unless you request deletion. Technical logs are retained for a limited period for security purposes and then routinely purged.
Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including sanitized form inputs, prepared database statements, nonce-protected submissions, and restricted caching of personalized pages such as certificates. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
